The Area around

	'La Casa di Dina' is located on a hill named Bauda, very near Santo Stefano Belbo - the hometown of the famous Italian writer Cesare Pavese, in the Langhe hills of Piemonte, northwestern Italy. This area is famous for its beautiful nature and for its wine and food. You can find many small producers of fine wines, cheese, meat, bakery products and honey. Visiting the cellars, shops and restaurants and discovering what they have to offer is a fulltime job. Many of the enterprises have earned renewed interest in recent years thanks to the efforts of Slow Food, see http://www.slowfood.com the organization invented in Alba, only 25 km from Santo Stefano Belbo, to counter the spread of fast food and whose objective is to maintain and encourage old traditions in food production.
	For those interested in cultural and historical sites there are many small towns worth visiting and each holds some surprise for you: Alba, Asti (see http://www.terredasti.it), Canelli (see http://www.comune.canelli.it), Casale Monferrato, Alessandria, Cuneo, (see http://www.comune.cuneo.it), Moncalvo, are all notable for their historical centers (including synagogues and old Ghettos (see http://www.artefacta.it ) and within an hour's drive from Bauda.

	Close by there is also the town of Acqui Terme with its famous hot springs. Alternatively you can enjoy resting in the garden or visiting small markets nearby.
	Turin
Turin	If you long for the excitement of the big city, Milan and Turin (Milano and Torino) are about a 1.5-hour drive away. Piedmont is surrounded by the Swiss and French Alps and there are many national parks to visit. All year round there are many local agricultural festivals e.g. the Moscato festival, the Tartufo (truffle) festival, etc. as well as many musical events. Bauda is not far from the Italian Riviera: a 2-hour drive gets you to San Remo.
